Oh, what a wonderful trip! I've tried clipping my heels but I can't seem to get back there. At least I have over 1000 pictures to remind me of the great time we had.
Because I was sewing my little fingers to the bone and getting ready for Easter, I haven't been able to post the completed projects, so here they are!

My next favorite was the Mickey Initial Halter Dresses they are so bright, fun, and were perfect on those HOT Florida days!

I'm about to cut up a bunch of perfectly good fabric...

Joy of joys my fabric shipment arrived today-the fabric I've been coveting and saving for so I can make the CUTEST outfits for the girls to wear to Disney. I have been dreaming about designs, sketching, coloring, scanning mags and scouring the net for inspiration and tutes!
Here's what I have planned:
A Mad Hatter and Alice Tea Party Dress~for our breakfast with Miss Alice
Princess Stripwork Skirts and Applique T's-for breakfast at Akershus
Garden Party Sundresses-since Epcot will be in full bloom
Giraffe Print Bermudas and T's-Animal Kingdom Day

Now, here's what I've done already-zip.
Well, not really, but close-I've finished 1 Princess Jasmine dress and managed to bloch the Princess Tianna dress. In my rush to get things done I measured only once and used a dress that I FORGOT HAD ELASTIC in the back! YIKES! I'm trying to figure out how to fix, but until then, here's Jasmine and look for more pics to come :)

My favorite things to design are the ribbon scuptures or clips be it a spider, a cow or my latest...a hen-for some reason I just love them. Maybe it's because they double as a toy/hair accessory? There were plenty of afternoons in October spent playing "Oh, no-you've got a spider in your hair" while waiting for doctor's appointments or for dance practice to be over.

Tulle Rosette Tutorial

Let me preface this by saying anyone who knew me a year ago would think this quite funny that I am writing a sewing tutorial!
These rosettes are extrememly easy, and when asked how to do them, I could not find the original instructions that I saw, since I've bookmarked over 100 sewing tutorials. So, here is my version-I do mine a little different than I learned from the original tute. These are free for you to use and create, all I ask is that you become a follower of my blog :) pretty please?

Step 1-Materials: scissors, sewing machine, needle and thread, and a 6 inch by 24 inch strip of tulle


Step 2: Fold the tule in half and then in half again, so that it now measures 1.5 inches by 24 inches


Step 3: Using the longest stitch length on your machine and the shortest width, run a basting stitch down the middle of your folded strip. Be sure to leave plenty of strings at the beginning and end of stitching and DO NOT BACKSTITCH!



Step 4: Separate the threads at one end and start gathering-pull one of the threads carefully and start "scruntching" the fabric down the thread.


Step 5: Once you have gathered and have the material fairly evenly distributed, the length on the tulle should be about half of what you started with, so around 12 inches. Now, tie off both ends with double or triple knots and trim those threads.



Step 6: Start the spiraling! Begin at one end and fold on the stitch you made and start spiraling around an invisible circle, about the size of a dime. Keep spiraling around until you have about a 1 inch tail.



Step 7: Take your tail and push down through the center hole. Now it looks like a poof! Turn it over on the back and hand-stitch to secure the shape and now you're ready to attach to a shirt, hair clip, just about anything!

And here is another version for a tri-colored rosette: Used 3 strips of tulle measuring 2 inch by 24 inches and didn't fold, just ran the stitch down the middle and gathered then shaped.


To attach to a shirt, I put about 5 stitches by hand in each flower. I have washed this shirt 3 times in the past 4 days and no problems using the delicate cycle. I always hang to dry because the tulle can become *ratty* in the dryer. :)

A Rainbow Tutu and Rosette Shirt

For dd's b-day, she wanted a Rainbow Magic Fairy party, so I whipped up a tutu and this shirt with matching rosettes. No hairbows or hair anything in this post, just thought it was cute and wanted to share.

Simple Piggies with Bling Bows

Sometimes, just some cute hair accessories can take plain piggies to new heights. I am a big fan of pigtails-great for my active girls. Here, I did a side part and then a high pigtail on both sides of the head. The light pink bows have a touch of marabou feathers and cute rhinestone center. These look really cute for dance class, too! And if it's a REALLY rushed morning, then I can clip the bow to a woven headband and bolt out the door. :)
