Serger on the way!!!! Yea!!

Jingle bells, jingle bells...
I'm feeling very Christmas-y since my Christmas present is on its way to me and should be here tomorrow (fingers crossed, toes crossed, eyes crossed)!
For those that know the Christy BC (before children), you are probably thinking I've flipped my lid. But since having my sweeties and starting this little business I can't believe how much I LOVE, Adore, and enjoy sewing.
Start with a beautiful piece of fabric, cut it to shreds, pin and measure, iron and sew and gather and measure and gather some more, stick a couple of fingers, burn one on the iron but in the end you end up with a ruffly, twirly, girly piece of one-of-a-kind art. (Whew-sorry to my English teachers for that run on sentence!)
So, when I saw a new serger on Craig's list, I begged hubby to let me go ahead and have my Christmas early. Just in time as the dress orders are pouring in for ballgame pillowcase dresses and the like for the holidays. I am so excited!
Here are a few of the fall dresses I've been working on and I hope to post more next week asuming me and my new machine get along :)

Bag #2-Magic Mushroom Backpack

I have been so busy sewing, I haven't had much time for "bow-ing." But, I've got to kick it in gear because the back-to-school orders are coming in and plus my own dd's surely need some new hair pretties, too.
This is my second ever bag and it comes from a fab Aussie pattern designer "Melly & Me." I took an old pair of my pants that are now too big (insert cheers and backflips here :) and used some others scraps, fleece and a pretty baby outfit from Jacee's stash to add the doors, windows, curtain, and flowers. I was so pleased with how it turned out. It will be the perfect size for carrying a couple of barbies, a snack and a book to MOPS this fall. Jacee was thrilled with it!

Messenger Bag and Lunch Tote

Back to school, back to school! When the stores started rolling out their new backbacks we would look and Kylee never did find something she loved. She wanted a turquoise and pink messenger bag. So, I let her pick out some fabric and I set out to make her a messenger bag and lunch tote. My how much I've learned doing the reserach for making these bags! Kudos to the people who crank out these tote bags that you see everywhere-bags are not "simple" even thought the directions may say otherwise!
I started Saturday and finished around midnight. But, the lunch tote just took a couple of hours today. I was particularly proud of the inverted appliques of her name and initial. The messenger bag has an inside pocket for ice cream money, ponytail holders, or other little treasures and a few pencil pockets.
The lunch tote-WOW-well I feel like I deserve some sort of sewing diploma for that one. Laminated fabric for the lining so it could be cleaned easily. Researched the best insulating material and then finally FOUND some! AND, installed my first zipper!! Yea, Me!!!
Kylee was so thrilled. It was her design, so she feels like she had a part in its creation as well.
Now, on to make Jacee a bag to take to MOPS. She has put in her own special request, too :)

Model Results

Ah-what beautiful and precious babes I had the opportunity to photograph! Even in the swelting 90 degree heat at 9:30 in the morning, they were nothing less than fabulous! Thanks so much to the mommies and girlies for coming out and smiling for the camera.
These are just a few that I've edited, more to come!
